One of my favorite stand-up comedian/astrologers -Mikey Lutin- warns that since the North Node has switched in Capricorn:
"....there will be a business aspect to all connections that are supposed to be personal and personal liaisons in relationships that are supposed to be professional......"
That was never truer than tonight. I had Thanksgiving dinner at my favorite Denny's on Scottsdale Road; and it was, honestly, like coming Home for the Holidays.
In the 70's, I had a friend with my same disease, ME/CFS. She was in her 70s, and had her meals every night, at a Florida cafeteria chain. I thought she was a little cuckoo, but she said it was easy. She didn't get lost on the way, and she liked the people. She said if she didn't show up some evenings, they called her to make sure she was ok. Unheard of.
Fast forward 30 years, and I'm not going to Denny's every night: but frequently enough that several of them are like family. And if you think that is waaaay old school, then you haven't tried their Killer Cranberry Salad and Fruit Smoothies!
Today, my Thanksgiving plans fizzled around 3 pm. True to Mr Lutin's predictions, I made appointments with my mom and daughters, for the official Holiday phone call. My church friends were out of town, my oldest friends too far to drive to. But my Business Mentor had the time to spend an Hour and a Half with me!! HA!
My support group's open house potluck folded an hour and a half early. Since I was an hour and a half late, that left me hungry. I'd brought a Pecan-Fudge Iced chocolate cake. (Which promptly, thankfully, found a new owner on my way back to the parking lot.)
So what can you do but go to Denny's? Open 24/7, Holidays included. My favorite is on Scottsdale Road and Cochise.
My server tonight was Fareed, who was almost as shocked as I was to see the GIANT portions of their Holiday Turkey dinner. We agreed it would feed 3 people, and now I have leftovers.
Horace the manager waltzed by and said "Hello Stranger!", making me feel exactly the opposite. And James the Renaissance guy, had copied off an article on alternatives to PayPal, since he knew I was having issues with them. So I sat there, eating my Thanksgiving dinner, reading about internet business, and looking through my cookie recipes for the Christmas baking this weekend. *pure contentment*
You know what?
Mr Lutin is correct. Business and personal relationships seemed to have flipped this year. But for me, it's a good thing. It was a lovely evening, with people whom I am truly grateful for, reading things I love to read, on an especially trying holiday. And even though I couldn't remember most of their names, they were still happy to see me. Now, how cool is that?
